Make It Monday #115: Beyond Paper with Impression Plates

You would never believe me if I told you I jumped for joy when I saw this week's MIM .
I have a recycle/reuse/re-purpose drawer that is bulging at the seams. When I saw that I could get rid of a few things I was ecstatic to say the least!

For my first venture "out of the box" I decided to use a piece of packaging I saved from a wallet my
hubby got for Christmas. It was the perfect size and already had the stitching done for me, hurray!

Here's the Father's Day card I made:

I embossed the leatherish piece with a Tim Holtz Texture Fade Folder. Die cut a Mat Stack 3 out of kraft CS. Stamped a tree from Father Knows Best as well as the sentiment with Classic Kraft ink. Colored the leaves with various markers and used a heart punch for the "apples" which I had to make shiny with glossy accents. Tied a little twine around the Mat Stack and adhered it with some foam tape. I also adhered the leather piece with foam tape onto a piece of Rustic Cream CS. Pretty simple I guess.

Hopefully I'll be back with some sort of remnant from something else, after all, I can't throw anything away!!    Thanks for looking!

Make It Monday #114: Blown Ink

I truly cannot believe it is May! Yesterday I had a wonderful day with Prima celebrating NSD(National Scrapbook Day). Live shows all day long. They were awesome and so inspiring, thank you to all that were involved and the amazing teachers.

So, on to this weeks' MIM. Dawn shared with us a very cool technique that was super easy and lots of fun by just blowing through a straw. I decided to give it a shot and this is the result:

I started with two Tim Holtz distress inks: Mustard Seed and Barn Door. I blew out the Mustard Seed
first on an old piece of sheet music and then used the Barn Door on top. I then used PTI's Limitless Layers circle dies for the sentiment circle and cut in  the sheet music. I used Tag It's 12 for the "happy day" sentiment. Mounted it all on some Terracotta Tile CS and dressed it up with some Prima flowers and a little bling. Hope you all like it.

Papertrey April BLOG HOP Challenge

Welcome to my blog! Today I am participating in the April Papertrey Blog Hop you can find here:

We were challenged to design on an angle. Here's what I came up with:

I also incorporated this weeks' MIM by using perfect pearls. This was so much fun and I want to thank Nichole for making me use product that I haven't in some time!!

I started with black CS and stamped my background(It's Official) with fresh snow ink and used Perfect Pearl PP. I then did the gold and the apples by first stamping them with versamark ink in order to remove the PP that was already on the paper. I restamped them again to ensure good coverage of the new color of PP which was Forever Red(apples) and Perfect Gold(A+).

I then die cut the spiral notebook page and ripped off the bottom. Used Teacher's Apple for my sentiment since Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up. Inked the page with some Pure Poppy and a little black ink. Rolled up a small piece of white scrap paper which I adhered to the silver ribbon that mimics the chalk tray. I then cut out a small piece of felt and a small piece of kraft paper to make the eraser.  To finish it off I had to add the gold star(that looks black) because I can remember trying so hard in school to get a gold star and what a feeling when I did!! I still get all warm and fuzzy thinking about those stars!!

Thanks for stopping and have fun today hopping around. I hope to fit it in a bit later!

Two for one with Happy Easter banner

So I decided to combine The Twinery Challenge with Papertrey Ink Challenge for MIM .
It's Banner Day at The Twinery with Inked Backgrounds over at PTI.

So, here is my Easter banner:  I started with Stampers Select white CS and inked it up with my blending tool and a variety of colors Lavendar moon, Lemon Tart, Raspberry Fizz, Plum Pudding and a little Spun Sugar by Tim Holtz since I do not have Sweet Blush by PTI.  I used Tag Sale #2 die to cut out the tags.
Then I masked the tag with a small circle(where I stamped the letter with Outlines Alphabet )so I could stamp my background with Polka Dot Basics using Spun Sugar ink again. I inked the edges with Rasp Fizz and Plum Pudding.

I stamped the bunnies(Rasp Fizz and Plum Pudding) using Polka Dot Parade along with the die. I used 3-D glue dots for the tails and just started in the center and spiraled out until the dot was covered with Twine(Orchid and Blossom) from The Twinery as well as the tassels and twine they are hung on.

It was an easy process, just took some time but fun!!
And another close up so you can see a little more detail:

And one for the twine tail:

I think I might actually keep this project. It looks so cute hanging up and I don't have many Easter decorations!    Thanks for looking.
